Endearingly known as Cajun Country, Louisiana’s southern coastal region stretches from Lake Charles in the southwestern corner of the state, to Galliano you on the southeastern ridge. The Louisiana State Arboretum is not only a premier attraction within Cajun Country, it’s also one of the most unique outdoor sites, ideal for checking out the fall foliage. Visit the LSA during your stay in Ville Platte. Just to the south of Ville Platte you can find the city of Eunice, home to Cajun Music Hall of Fame and Museum – an ideal destination for music fans, and a no-brainer this fall.
Any visit to Cajun Country in southern LA should include an extended stay in Lafayette. Pleasant, welcoming, and historic – check out the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist to see for yourself – Lafayette will yield much to see and do this fall.
On October 26th be sure to visit the Parc International for the Lafayette's annual RAA Gumbo Cook-Off. Starting at 5 p.m. you’ll have a chance to taste and rate gumbo offerings from some Cajun Country’s best chefs. Make the short drive in from nearby Abbeville or Rayne and come hungry.
The fall in Cajun Country means loads of things to see and do, and it’s also a time to celebrate college football. In Lafayette, the locals live for their Rajin’ Cajuns. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will play six home games in 2016, including some real marquee opponents.
Visit Cajun Field, home of the Rajin’ Cajuns football team, on November 5th and help celebrate Homecoming 2016 when they play the University of Idaho Vandals.
