Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, located north of Baton Rouge, began as the Harding Army Air Field. During World War II, the United States Army Air Force used the Air Field for supplies and as a place to perform maintenance on the aircraft. The Air Field was also used as a training base for fighter pilots. Many pilots who trained at the base, later made aviation history.

The 1,250-acre airport, featuring three runways, is used for general aviation, commercial flights and military use. Louisiana State Capitol Building

The Louisiana State Capital Building, completed in 1932, is the tallest capital building in America. The 450-foot, 34-story limestone building was constructed by recommendation of Huey Long, who became governor during its completion. After the completion, he was fatally wounded in the building and is buried and memorialized in the Capitol Gardens.

Each state name is etched in the steps leading to the main entrance, in order of admittance to the Union. The Observation Deck on the 27th floor offers excellent views of Baton Rouge.
