Alexander State Forest

Alexandria International Airport

The Alexandria International Airport, formally known as England Air Force Base, is located northwest of Alexandria in Central Louisiana. The Air Force Base opened in 1942, during World War II, as a training facility for the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress aircrew. The Base closed in 1946 and reopened in 1950, for the Korean War, as the Alexandria Air Force Base. In 1992, the 2,284-acre Alexandria International Airport opened for general aviation, military and commercial flights.

Passengers travel on one of the three commercial airlines to Atlanta, Houston, Dallas and Memphis. Conveniences such as parking and ground transportation are available for ease of travel.
