Myrtles Plantation

Historical plantation homes in the Plantation Region of Louisiana have fascinated visitors for decades. The Myrtles Plantation is no exception. This 1796 plantation home, located on ten acres of land near Saint Francisville, was built by General David Bradford. Throughout the years, the home was sold and bought by several families and has undergone restoration.

It is known to be haunted and has been reported to have approximately twelve ghosts living in it. Visit the home for a guided tour to learn more about it's rich past and to see the French furnishings from the 1850s. Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site

Complete your travels in Louisiana's Plantation Region, by visiting a historic plantation. The Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site in Saint Francisville, remains one of the South's most intact domestic plantations. Daniel Turnbull purchased nearly 3,455 acres of land for this cotton plantation, between the 1820s and 1840s. By 1835, the Greek-Revival style plantation home was complete for Daniel and Martha Turnbull.

The plantation's large, beautiful ornamental gardens were filled with refined plants and taken care by Martha Turnbull and her staff. The historic site preserves the main house, along with thirteen of the original historic buildings and the historic gardens, on 371 acres of land.
